nice price deal !!! the corestyle story continues... with forsaken is dead (known from his waking the tyrants device ep on corestyle last year, besides his various other productions for labels like meta4, industrial strength, six feet underground or hard kryptic) and cap (hard kryptic) we have two of the az hardcore junkies here. the a-side is represented by cap and starts with the title track this is not a war, a hard industrial uptempo pounder which is yet still atmospheric. the b-side offers 2 collaborations between cap and forsaken is dead. repeating patterns is rather techno-influenced whereas the second track, pulling strings (forsaken is dead remix) starts with a mystic intro and turns into a grooving and driving monster.

british born and now based in berlin, dead fader aka john cohen, most known for his work on robot elephant records and the brilliant collaboration with sensational on the ‘work it, no’ ep, now joins the touchin’ bass roster with the ‘dosage’ ep, a heavy duty, unrepentant body of work that exposes john’s diversity. easing you in gently is ‘booze lair’, a slow building, infernal, smacked out foray that is both biting and compelling, followed by ‘tired’, a fiercely adrenaline-charged, dynamic workout that moves and mutates, heavily laced with abrasive textures. the title track ‘dosage’ is a straight up slice, filled with cranks and grinds which jars and grates, punctuated with weighty subversive beats and a low res undertone, followed by the calm after the storm, ‘easy sun’. an epic piece, pushing distortion to the max. no nonsense, this is one heavy slab of vinyl. solid!

alex north’s work for ballet, symphony orchestra, television and film continues to stand the test of time almost 25 years after his death. although nominated 15 times for an academy award, it wasn’t until 1986 that he was finally given due recognition when a lifetime achievement oscar was bestowed upon him. but, as this soundtrack lp so amply demonstrates, his pioneering work on streetcar remains one of alex north’s crowning achievements.

while their debut on mysterious downtown romeo records was dominated by lovesickness packed in soulful garage dubs, this time pt/b reflect on lapse and transience - boiled down to three dark and plain rave anthems.

dead fader returns with his new album *glass underworld*. dead fader is the alter ego of john cohen - former brighton resident, now based in berlin - who has worked relentlessly since 2007 to realise his vision of electronic music. his tracks are characterised by pioneering sound explorations, which on one hand oscillate between sonic extremities and on the other hand carefully craft cinemascope sound worlds. *glass underworld* became a very personal exploration for john, developing further his emotionally tinged brand of techno which he established with the previous ep sun copter. furthermore, the film interstellar visually influenced the album, mapped as an image for cohens tracks to exist in. the vinyl release is limited to 300 copies and comes with download code included.
